Flying Fijians out to create opening day shock at the RWC

When the Vodafone Flying Fijians starting XV step out onto the turf at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, they will do so with the knowledge that almost a million Fijians are backing them to go all the way.

In Fiji, majority of the population are expected to gather to watch the match.

Every pass and tackle will be followed closely by friends and family, as well as by the Fijian community in England.

In the run up to 2015 Rugby World Cup, it is this groundswell of support that is helping boost the confidence of the Flying Fijians.

Coach John McKee said the support from the Fiji fans who came to The Stoop on 6 September to cheer on the team against Canada was phenomenal.

McKee said he believed this support, as well as social media messages from Fiji, would give the team the boost to challenge England.

Vodafone Flying Fijians captain Akapusi Qera said they want to cause an opening day shock at the World Cup when he leads his charges against England at Twickenham on Saturday.

The former Gloucester back‑row, who was a team‑mate of Jonny May and Ben Morgan, said the players are excited to run out of the sold out Twickenham Stadium.

Qera said these last few days leading up to Saturday will be vital for them.

He also said there are no injury concerns in the team.

Qera also wished all the fathers in Fiji a Happy Fathers Day.

Fiji will play England this Saturday at 7am in the opening match of the 2015 RWC.toso1
